Who is the most honest worker in an organization?
Undoubtedly, it is the owner. But mostly the world calls them 'Capitalist'. The exact opposite term for the worker. But I would like to aptly call them the 'Employer'. That's right.
I have a question to ask you. When attending many colleges, seminars, and workshops how many people in this audience have decided that in today's class, we will pay full attention, widely understand the concepts, and try to apply those learning in our work, and life? I am sure I would have to elicit a reply from you. I know the answer. deep within.
However, I'm asking you the same question again on this Labor Day to the working people, not to any particular category. Indeed to all those who work, be it even freelancers. How many of you come to the office every morning and make up your mind that today's work will be 100% sincere and offer total dedication? I don't remember ever making that decision as a worker. Not sure if at least 50% of what we can do in our office is done. We are researching the reasons why it may not work so flawlessly. More often than not, complaints about workplace shortcomings are particularly levied against the boss. Therefore it is his duty to rectify the shortcomings and teh onus is totally on his shoulders.
The moment we log off from our computers and leave for the day, we disconnect from the office. It is only when we punch-in tomorrow that we must again wear the worker's shirt. Until then, we need not dwell on the problems of that organization. It is the duty of a sincere worker to do the work assigned only during office hours. There is nothing beyond that. But look at that owner. He has been working tirelessly for years. He has gradually built himself up from scratch and participated in the work of his forefathers. Have you ever noticed that when you step into the firm after work, you have the boss in his cabin with hovering thoughts? He is totally immersed in fetching a missing tender, finding a replacement worker who left unexpectedly, a lost work between the cup and the lip, an assignment that hasn't been rectified many times, the salaries/payments to be paid next month, etc. Your employer is totally engrossed in finding out solutions, how to recover from unexpected setbacks- be it flood and lockdown?
If the employer delays a month's salary, with reduced amenities, and a bit of workload in turbulent times, we will leave the company with no hesitation and find a better job, so that our careers stay uninterrupted. Whenever an organization is in a state of collapse, it has to go through a lengthy procedure to recover from the loss. The Owner will have to give his best to keep his dreams afloat by collecting interest on money and recruiting like-minded partners. But if he loses, he will be lonely and will be sarcastically judged. Those names we once proudly proclaimed winners will be instantly added to the list of losers.
The biggest worker in my eyes is a capitalist who is genuinely working for the upliftment of his company.
As an employer and worker at the same time, I would iterate that they are those who have done vast self-sacrifice to stimulate the factors of production, generate income and employment, and uplift the economy.
